Our Story

The Wilmington Celebration Choir (WCC), formerly The Pillar Record Family, was founded in 1997 by Joey Gore. The choir is based out of Wilmington, NC.  WCC is not a church choir, but a touring gospel choir comprised of 48 members, and a crew of 5.  It is a multi-generational, multi-denominational group, representing churches and denominations throughout Eastern North Carolina. The diversity of this group lends to its unique blend of harmony and its passion for spreading the gospel through song.  Our mission is to fulfill the call through the powerful tool of anointed music, bringing encouragement and healing to the Body of Christ, and more importantly, salvation to the unbeliever.

The diversity of the choir also lends to the diversity of styles and arrangements. The genres include Southern gospel, praise and worship, traditional hymns, inspirational, Black gospel, and beautiful anthems. A typical concert will feature songs from each of these genres. As the audience is ushered into the presence of God they begin to sing along, praising, and swaying to the music. Each concert is unique, but is always a life-changing experience.

WCC has ministered in various venues. Those opportunities have included churches of all denominations; Singing in the Sun, Myrtle Beach, SC; Gatlinburg Gathering, Gatlinburg, TN; National Quartet Convention, Pigeon Forge, TN; LifeWay WorshipLife Conference; INSP Television Network; Gaither Homecoming events; Blue Gate Theater; Gospel Fest at Loretta Lynn's Ranch; Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines. The group has also traveled to Shipshewana, IN; Hartford, CT; Lake Placid, FL; Dahlonega, GA; Gatlinburg, TN; Nashville, TN; Pennsylvania; and more. In 2011, eighteen choir members traveled to Cape Town, South Africa, ministering in song, but also embraced other outreach opportunities.
